What is Compression Therapy?

Loved by athletes, footballers, and fitness enthusiasts, Compression Therapy is a non-invasive way to improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness, and speed up recovery after intense exercise or injury.

The Normatec 3 legs device (which looks a bit like a pair of moonboots) delivers compressed air to your limbs, creating a wave-like pressure that moves up and down. It helps to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and improve mobility, so you can get back to doing what you love faster.

How it works

Your Get A Drip pro will help you slip on the boots, turn on the device, and let the therapy do its work.

As the chambers inflate and deflate, you may feel a gentle pulsing or squeezing sensation around the treated area. Many people find this sensation to be deeply relaxing and may even fall asleep during the treatment.

Don't book if:

  • You're under 18 years of age.

  • You're pregnant.

  • You have heart, liver, or kidney failure.

  • You experience ischemic rest pain.

  • You have an untreated wound infection.

  • You have untreated deep vein thrombosis or phlebitis.

  • You have severe arterial disease with an ABI of 0.49 or less (unless ordered by a vascular surgeon or physician).

Please consult with a healthcare provider for personalised advice if needed.

Compression Therapy FAQs

Gives your body a boost – Compression Therapy increases circulation and helps you maintain your full range of motion, leaving you fresh and limber.

Unlocks your next level – Give yourself the competitive advantage of recovery compression boots, and warm up faster, so you are always ready to give it your all.

Conquers sore muscles – Compression Therapy is said to help with lymphatic drainage and decrease pain and soreness so you never have to let DOMS cramp your style.

The Normatec compression device works by using a special massage pattern that helps your body recover faster. Its creater, Laura F. Jacobs, is a doctor and engineer. She realised that the massage pattern is really important for compression to be effective.

The Normatec device uses a technology called Sequential Pulse Pneumatic Waveform, which combines three different massage techniques: pulsing compression, gradients, and distal release. These techniques help improve circulation in your body, so you can train harder, recover quicker, and perform better.

While Compression Therapy is safe for most, there are some conditions which make Compression Therapy unsuitable.

This includes but is not limited to:

Acute pulmonary edema
Acute thrombophlebitis
Acute congestive cardiac failure
Acute infections Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Episodes of pulmonary embolism
Wounds, lesions, infection, or tumours at or near the site of application
Where increased venous and lymphatic return is undesirable
Bone fractures or dislocations at or near the site of application
