Meet Rozalia – crochet-lover, talented violinist and one of Urban’s most experienced pros, with over 11 years of massage therapy under her belt. We sat down with her to uncover what’s kept her with Urban for nearly a decade, the most meaningful moments from her journey as a therapist and how she chooses to unwind after work.

What’s the most rewarding moment you’ve had with a client?

There’s one client that stands out for me – he was a dedicated rock climber who trained six days a week but never stretched or prioritised recovery. His muscles were so overworked and tight that it limited his range of movement when climbing. I had to work really hard and use pressure point techniques to be able to reach the deeper layers of his muscles.

But after having regular massages two to three times a month with me – and following my advice to add Epsom salt baths and deep stretching into his routine – the transformation was remarkable. He felt like a completely different person.

He was so happy and thankful for the suggestions – he found that he had a better range of movement which really improved his climbing. But not only was his muscle flexibility better, he also felt better in himself.

Seeing that shift, both physically and mentally, and knowing I helped support that change was so rewarding.

When you’re not helping clients feel their best, how do you like to spend your time?

Sometimes I take a half day (or even a full day) to heal my body and mind. That’s when I run a hot bath with Epsom salts and ease into a slower pace for the day.

Music has always been a big part of my life. My grandparents taught me to sing from a very young age, and I’ve kept music close ever since. I currently play second violin in The Pico Players, an amateur symphony orchestra based in Central London. Over the years, we’ve raised more than £100,000 for charities such as The Listening Place, Arts Emergency, Cardiac Risk in the Young and The Choir with No Name. It’s all for a good cause, and after three years with the orchestra, I still look forward to every rehearsal.

When I’m not playing the violin or singing in a choir, I crochet – a lot! I’ve made clothes, pillow covers, baskets… you name it. It’s the perfect way for me to unwind after a busy day.

You’ve been with us for nine years – what is it about Urban that keeps you coming back?

I’ve been with Urban for almost a decade now – making it one of my most long-standing roles. With over 11 years of massage experience (including time on a cruise ship in Australia and in 5-star spas), I’ve seen what works – and what doesn’t.

What keeps me with Urban is the flexibility, reliability and the fact that they genuinely listen to therapists. Bookings in London are consistent (so there aren’t huge gaps in my calendar), travel time is built in and I can plan my week to suit both work and life – whether it’s finishing early for orchestra rehearsal or taking time off for a concert.

I've gained so much confidence in my massage skills since joining Urban – through real client feedback and hands-on experience.

I also get to explore parts of London I might never have seen otherwise – wandering through different parks between bookings, walking along the canal near Angel Station on my way to a client or enjoying lunch in Regent’s Park. It makes each day different and exciting.

It has also allowed me to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. I’ve met incredible clients from all walks of life, and that’s a big part of why I’m still here.
