Strong pressure for working out knots, tension and stiffness
Targets specific problem areas and frees up movement
Supports muscle recovery after exercise
“The strong pressure of this treatment is great for freeing up tense muscles while realigning muscle tissues and speeding up recovery,” says Nadege, our lead therapist. “Expect elbow, fist and forearm work with a gradual increase in pressure.”
After a quick consultation, your Urban pro will perform a full-body massage treatment with strong pressure that builds up. Expect extra focus on tense spots, where they might use their elbows, fists, forearms and knuckles to work out knots.
Bear in mind it’s normal to feel slightly sore after a deep tissue treatment, but this should ease off within 72 hours.

More info on deep tissue massage
A deep tissue massage is a treatment that uses strong pressure that builds up to work out tension and knots in the deeper layers of the muscle tissue. The strength of the treatment can help with releasing toxins from the muscles.
No, it’s not suitable for anyone with diabetes. If you’re pregnant, try our specialist pregnancy massage, bookable from your second trimester onwards. If you’ve got muscle injuries or dysfunction that’s stopping you moving we recommend our injury/pain management massage instead.
No, a deep tissue massage should never be painful, and you should let your therapist know if you’re ever in pain. It is, however, normal to feel slight discomfort as your therapist increases the pressure. The strength of deep tissue massage means you might find it makes you feel tired afterwards at first.
For the massage table (that your therapist will bring) you’ll need about 2x3m of floor space. That’s about the size of a yoga mat, with enough space to walk around the edge.
While some might find relief from lower back pain from a deep tissue massage, at Urban we recommend our specialist injury/pain management massage delivered by therapists who have undergone extra training. It’s specifically designed to deal with common issues like frozen shoulder, pinched nerve, shoulder and lower back pain.
Give yourself at least an hour post-massage to recover, being sure to drink plenty of water. Bear in mind you’re likely to feel a little sore for up to 72 hours after a deep tissue treatment, but you should be able to go about your normal activities in the meantime.
