Recover with a pro

Physiotherapy is the science of restoring movement and function to parts of the body and mapping out a plan to keep issues away. For injury rehabilitation, sports preparation, post-operative care and more, time with a physio can be a key part of recovery.

With Urban, you can book degree-qualified mobile physiotherapists right to your door.

  • Be seen by a qualified physiotherapist, without leaving home

  • Hands-on treatment to relieve pain and restore movement

  • A pathway to recovery through exercise and life adjustments

If this is your first appointment, your session will begin with an assessment of your physical condition, including tests on the strength and range of motion of problem areas.

Most consultations and follow-ups also include some manual treatment. Usually this includes stretching, manipulation of joints and some light exercises, although your therapist might also include other treatments, like kinesiology taping or dry needling.

Your physio will leave you with an understanding of the causes of discomfort and a plan for recovery – this typically includes a routine of daily stretches and exercises, recommendations on further treatments and a timeline for improvements.

Great massage and nice to have it at home, rather than brave public transport or driving afterwards!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

More about at-home physio consultations

Physiotherapy can help with a number of musculoskeletal conditions, from injuries, like a torn achilles’ tendon or sprain, to problems linked to past and ongoing health conditions, like fibromyalgia, and arthritis.

Urban physiotherapists are all fully registered with the health and care professions council (HCPC). That means they’ve got a three- or four-year degree programme under their belt, and a minimum of a thousand hours of clinical training. You’re in good hands.

Some are also specialists in areas such as women’s health (pre- and post-natal care), neurological disorders and paediatrics – browse individual bios to find the right physio for you.

You can favourite your pro to easily rebook them.

Yes, you'll need to supply towels to cover the treatment table and yourself. We recommend two large towels (or old sheets) and a smaller one for the headrest.

Osteopathy and physiotherapy may overlap, but there are differences – think of it as "prehab vs. rehab." Osteopathy is the best choice for when you have fair to moderate pain. Physiotherapy is a better choice after an injury or illness for professional guidance on rebuilding strength and mobility.

Read our full osteo vs physio guide here.

Some, but not all, physio sessions are active treatments with lots of moving around, so you’re best off wearing light, breathable clothing - a t-shirt and leggings or shorts is fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable.

Yep! You can simply book to see a physiotherapist without a referral from your GP. This is a convenient way to get help, fast, as an alternative to long waiting lists.

It also means your physiotherapist can spend longer on the manual, hands-on treatment part of your session vs the time limits on NHS appointments.

A private physiotherapy session in London costs £89 on Urban.

All Urban physios are HCPC registered, so depending on your individual plan, you should be able to claim back for treatments.

If you need an invoice for insurance purposes, you can contact us and we'll send you a PDF invoice via email.

Receipts and invoices are issued from Urban Massage on behalf of your pro. The invoice has to be under the name of the person who received the treatment. We also ask that you allow 1-3 business days for your invoice to be generated.

That’s normally up to your physio after they’ve given you an initial assessment. As part of that first treatment, they’ll map out a plan for your recovery, with a suggested number of consultations over a longer period.

Yes, but only after your first trimester and only with an Urban physio who specialises in women's health – check your physio’s bio to see their specialities.
