More info about relaxing massages
A relaxing massage is designed to calm your nervous system, typically with gentle pressure and slow motions across the whole body. By encouraging the mind to slow down first, a relaxing massage can also help to ease muscular tension.
We don't recommend booking a relaxing massage if you're pregnant. Instead, try our specialist pregnancy massage which can be tailored to be relaxing in style. It's delivered by therapists who have undergone extra training in pregnancy-safe massage practices.
Massages help with stress relief largely because of the way human touch activates your relaxation response. Studies show that touch activates the vagus nerve, lowering brain activity in regions associated with danger and stress.
A massage works the same way to switch off the stress response. Sweeping, slow massage strokes invite the body to deeply relax. Combine your massage with deep breathing, a playlist of your choice and scented candles to enhance the effect.
For the massage table (that your therapist will bring) you’ll need about 2x3m of floor space. That’s about the size of a yoga mat, with enough space to walk around the edge.
Yes, you'll need to supply towels to cover the massage table and yourself. We recommend two large towels (or old sheets) and a smaller one for the headrest. Dark colours are best if you want to protect your towels from massage oil.
Yes, we offer fully customisable massage sessions. From massage type to pressure level and extras like aromatherapy, you can tailor your session to suit your needs. You’ll see all the options to customise your experience when you book.
